Event FAQ
How Otterthon works
Gather support
Swimmers invite friends and family to support their swim with a flat donation or a pledge for each lap.
Swim laps
During the event, Otters swim as many laps as they can in a one-hour swim. One lap is two lengths of the pool, or 50 yards.
Count the laps
After the swim, laps are totaled and per-lap pledges can be calculated. For example, 20 laps at $1 per lap is a $20 donation.

Prize Ladder
Swimmers can earn a reward based on the total donations raised in their name. As that total grows, they move up the ladder. Each swimmer receives the reward for their highest tier reached; tiers do not stack.
- $0–$99Otterthon participation prize
- $100–$199Choice of a $25 Element Graphics or SwimOutlet gift card
- $200–$299Arena team competition or practice suit or a $50 gift card from either storeEligible suit styles and sizes will be shared before prize selection.
- $300–$399Arena team competition or practice suit + Arena gogglesSuit and goggles are included together at this tier.
- $400–$499AAA Gear Package
- $500–$999Deluxe AAA Gear Package
- $1,000+Deluxe AAA Gear Package + $100 SwimOutlet gift card + $50 Element Graphics gift certificateThe top tier includes all three rewards listed here.
Planning note: Final suit choices, participation prize, and AAA package contents will be announced once confirmed. Gift certificates for the AAA team store can be used across store opening months.
